Jed Allen was born on the road between Heaven and Hell and he walks there still.  His writing has appeared in numerous journals and in Fever Dreams: contempory arizona poets (University of Arizona Press).  An improvisatory pianist who worked for a decade in the southwest blues scene, he also teaches general writing classes at Phoenix College. Across his back he has written: somos todos ilegales.

Ahimsa Timoteo Bodhrán fell in love with a Colombian Jewish actor at 17; he knew this was his heart’s calling, which buoyed him through graduation and into a life of poetry. His M.F.A. thesis, The Other Love Poems, examined dynamics in relationships between queer men of color through the lens of his own experience, loving and brown. Published in 90 places in Europe, the Pacific, and the Américas, he is finishing Yerbabuena/Mala yerba and a Ph.D.

Glen Chesnut was born in Amarillo, Texas. He has worked at many different jobs, from cowboy to merchant seaman. He graduated from Calif. State University at Fresno and served a two-year hitch in the Army. After going to sea for twenty-three years, he settled permanently in San Francisco. His artwork has been exhibited in Northern California galleries and museums, and his  poetry and prose have appeared in various magazines and journals, including WordWrights, ZYZZYVA, Pearl, Chicago Quarterly Review, The 33 Review, The Blind Man’s Rainbow, Over the Transom, Iodine, and Main Street Rag Prose anthology. He has two books, Taking The Bull By The Horns, by the 3300 Press, and Of Time And The Leaky Faucet, by the Ex Nihilo Press.

Chris Crittenden is a reclusive hermit in Maine with about four hundred poetry publications to his credit.  Some of his recent publication credits/acceptances include Poems Niederngasse, Juice Press, Barnwood Magazine, and “Walt’s Corner,” a literary column in The Long Island Newspaper.

John Estes is a doctoral student and instructor at the University of Missouri in Columbia.  Recent poems have appeared or are forthcoming in Another Chicago Magazine, Caesura, Zoland Poetry, Ninth Letter, The Journal, Notre Dame Review, Literary Imagination and other places.  A chapbook, Breakfast with Blake at the Laocoön, is available from Finishing Line Press.  

Antonio G. Fernandez was born in San Francisco and raised in Wyoming. He received his M.A. in Creative Writing from San Francisco State. His poetry can be found in Redlit v.2, 14hills Vol. 13.2, Pemmican Press, Word Riot, The Smoking Poet and also upcoming in Cosmopsis Lit Mag. S. P. Flannery was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin, and now resides in Madison. His poetry has appeared in Poetry Salzburg Review, The Powhatan Review, The Alembic, Fox Cry Review, and The Blotter.

Linda King is a Vancouver, BC poet/facilitator whose work has appeared in numerous literary journals in Canada and Internationally – CV2, Event, Prairie Fire, Other Voices, Room, Quills, Wicked Alice, Monday Night, Third Coast, Envoi, NthPosition and others. A graduate of the Writers’ Studio at Simon Fraser University, Linda lives and writes near the beach in Vancouver.

Lyn Lifshin‘s most recent publications include The Licorice Daughter: My Year with Ruffian (Texas Review Press) and Another Woman Who Looks Like Me (Black Sparrow at Godine).  The latter was selected for the 2007 Paterson Award for Literary Excellence for previous finalists of the Paterson Poetry Prize. She has over 120 books and has edited 4 anthologies. Ryan Smith is currently an English undergraduate student at Indiana University with plans to pursue a Creative Writing MFA. He is a big fan of the starving artist lifestyle, but hopes one day to not be so starving.

Patrick Ryan Dunn Sullivan is a mathematician, linguist, and poet living indefinitely on the Korean peninsula. His work has appeared in Silent Actor, Sein und Werden (UK), Poetry Super Highway, Ascent Aspirations, Isles of Myst (Thailand) and Deep Cleveland.

 

 

Staff Notes

RD, editor, holds a PhD in American Literature (Poetry) and teaches at Arizona State University.  Her most recent work challenges narrative convention, deftly encapsulating the beauty, angst, and discombobulation of the non-verbal world of autism.  Her passions include lackadaisical Sunday morning breakfasts, long evening walks, and watching her son, Brendan, attempt to master the art of horseback riding. 

Catherine Rezza has a BA from Brown University and an MFA in Creative Writing from Arizona State University where she currently teaches writing. She is a former associate editor of Hayden’s Ferry Review and editorial assistant/acting editor at Hyperion Books. She currently spends her free time teaching old tricks to her new dog.

Sabrina Peros is originally from Saddle Brook, NJ and has spent the greater part of her life drawing and painting, eventually leading her to study and graduate from the School of Visual Arts (New York) with a BFA in Illustration in 2002. Lauren Luna was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. She graduated from Kent State University with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in 2000 and received a Masters of Science in Special Education from Manhattan College, Bronxville, NY in 2004.  Her work has been shown in numerous galleries in Chicago, New York City, Columbus, and Kent.  She and her family currently reside in Columbus, Ohio.
